Steven Shaw & Helen Blackburn have danced in Inventive Dance Competitions since 1999 and have had over 60 winning dances together. Some of their popular dances include the Feta Foxtrot, Windmill Waltz, Tayside Tango, Winchester Waltz and Saunter Shiraz.
They are available for private tuition at all levels, including beginners, and run a Modern Sequence Dance each Thursday at Ossett War Memorial Community Centre in West Yorkshire. Throughout the year Steven & Helen also organise Modern Sequence Dancing holidays nationwide.

Kevin Page & Valerie Laws are a brother & sister team who are qualified with the NATD & ISTD and have their own Dance Premises situated on Khyber Pass, Whitby, North Yorkshire. They have 2 spacious ballrooms with refreshments and a licensed bar.
Both are fully qualified in Ballroom, Latin & Classical and are Examiners with the NATD. Other winning dances include the Khyber Quickstep, Resolution Rumba, Tango Regatta & Endeavour Waltz.

Edwin Vickers & Beverley Murch-Fowkes have been dance partners since 2004 and have been qualified dance teachers for over 20 years.
They very much enjoy competing and dancing at a higher level and are the arrangers of both the Redforde Rumba, Olivers Cha Cha Cha and the Blue Angel Rumba.
Together they teach at Hermitage Leisure Centre, Whitwick selected Wednesdays (in winter) & Tuesdays (in summer)- 2 ½ hour class with social dancing.

 Karen Kelly & David Belshaw met in 1985 when they joined the Whitley Bay Alletsa Old Time formation team, becoming twice British Old Time Formation champions, representing the North East on Come Dancing, and Great Britain in the World Showdance.
They turned professional in 1991 and had their first win at their first inventive dance competition with the Jasmine Foxtrot in 1993.

 Ian & Sue Webster
Sue started dancing at the age of 2, with tap & ballet. Ian started at the age of 12 with Ballroom, Latin and Old Time. They met at and were trained by the late Bob Dale. Ian qualified in 1959 and Sue a few years later, and are qualified in Ballroom, Latin, Classical, Freestyle, Rock and Roll.
They have trained formation teams, and on one occasion won with their Junior 4 couple formation team at the Butlins Filey Dance Festival. They run a small, but busy Dance School in Ashton-under-Lyne Lancashire.
Sequence dances are held Monday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings, along with private lessons, tea dance & beginner’s classes held during the day & early evening.
Their involvement in Inventive Competitions started in 1992, and since then they have been successful with over 50 prize winning dances, including Sweet Bay Salsa, Bramble Bossa Nova, Mulberry Glide and The Alpine Stroll.

Louise and Robert Aldred both began dancing at the age of 3, Robert training with Joan and Lewis Wilson, Louise competing firstly as a juvenile in Classical Sequence and then as a junior and youth in Ballroom and Latin becoming one of the country’s leading competitors in these fields. Their first meeting was at a dance competition and they were married two years later.
They first entered into inventive dance at the British Dance Council competition at Stoke-On-Trent which they won with the Countess Waltz. This was later to become a Championship dance along with one of their more recent prize winning dances, the Washington Two Step.
They are both Championship Adjudicators and have lectured for most of the Teaching Associations. Robert is a Fellow of both the NATD and ISTD, recently being invited to sit on the Sequence Faculty of the latter.
Louise and Robert are co-principals of a busy dance school near Nottingham. They teach Ballroom, Latin, Sequence, Line Dancing, Salsa, R&R and Freestyle covering all levels including social dancers, medallists, competitors and professional tuition. The school is an ISTD approved Dance Centre offering QCA recognised graded examinations and qualifications.

David and Rita Harrod are new comers to the inventive dance circuit and started Sequence dancing socially simply for enjoyment.

 Neil & Lesley Marshall qualified as dance teachers in 1977 and started competing in the Inventive Dance Competitions in 1978 and won their first inventive in 1979. Having now had over 50 prize winning dances, including the very popular Rumba Loui Ann, Kennies Waltz and Key Quickstep they continue to compete at all the major events.
Neil and Lesley have danced since a very early age, both coming from dancing families, and met in 1974 at the Blackpool Dance Festival.
Neil trained with Jack & Joyce Briggs and danced open competitions. He joined their formation team at the age of 15 to 28 and the team won the Carl Alan Award and appeared on Come Dancing for many years.
Neil and Lesley run regular sequence dances throughout the week in the Grenoside and Stannington areas of Sheffield and provide children's dance classes each Saturday.
They also teach new dances at the ISDC Humberside area one Sunday each month, which they have done for the last 25 years. They are also guest MC’s at major events in the year.

Michael Stevenson and Ann Brown started dancing together in the Inventive Dance Competitions at the ISDC festival in 2005. Their first win came at the end of that year, with Abi's Jive at the UKA competition. Abi is Ann's Yorkshire Terrier.
Their second win came in June 2006 at the BATD competition with Barbara's Waltz, so named in memory of Ann's mum.
Michael started sequence dancing in 1985 and qualified in Classical Sequence with the IDTA in 1987. He has run classes for 21 years in the Stoke on Trent area, but retired at the end of 2005.
Ann commenced dancing lessons in 1995 and qualified in Classical Sequence a year later with the UKA. She is now qualified in all three branches and gained her Membership Ballroom in 2003 with the BATD and is now studying for her Fellowship in that branch.
Ann runs two Modern Sequence Dances at Gargrave Village Hall, near Skipton, Monday evenings 7.45- 10 pm and also at Blackrod Community Centre, Friday evenings 7.30-10.15 pm.

David Smith & Karen Smith are a mother & son partnership who started entering Inventive Dance Competitions in 2004 and are the arrangers of the Inverary Tango and the Silver Springs Foxtrot. Their busy lifestyle as you will see below prevents them from entering many of the competitions but they are pleased with their success so far.
They are full time Dance Teachers and along with David’s Dad & Karen’s Husband Michael run a very busy Dance school in Hereford, called Allseasons Dance & Leisure Studios. The business began life in 1990, running classes and private lessons teaching Ballroom, Latin American, Freestyle, Classical, Sequence & Line Dancing. In 1998 they purchased their own Dance Studio Premises in Friar Street, Hereford.
Karen, Michael & David are all are Licentiate Members of the I.D.T.A and the U.K.A.P.T.D and enter candidates for Medal Tests at regular intervals throughout the year.
David as many of you will know is also an accomplished keyboard and Theatre organ player. He has produced a number of CD’s and both of Karen and David’s winning dances were performed to music from two of these. Stuart Perry and Beverly Howard -
Stuart started dancing during the 1960’s by going to beginners classes with his parents, which then progressed to taking medals through the IDTA. He qualified as a professional dance teacher with the IDTA in the late seventies. Stuart started competing in the inventive competitions with Jayne Harwood, with whom he has had three successes - the most popular being the Rumba D'amour. He teaches alongside Jayne, and her husband David, at the Regency Ballroom, Market Place, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. www.grosvenorrooms.comThe ballroom is open 7 days a week covering all aspects of dance including sequence, ballroom, latin and line dancing. The main sequence dance night is on Monday at 8.00pm - 10.30pm where all the latest dances are included on the programme - this night is run by Stuart along with a lady called Annette and with help from Beverley.
Beverley started dancing 20 years ago by taking medals in ballroom and latin. This then led to an interest in theory and teaching which she completed in 1996. She has since built up an interest in sequence dancing and started competing, with Stuart, at the Ada Unsworth Memorial Day November 2006. So winning with the Imperial Foxtrot was very special to Beverley, as it was her first competition win.

Ian Rowe and Valerie Gilligan- Ian and Valerie have been competing in inventive dance competitions since 1998.
Valerie started Old Time dancing at the age of 4 until the age of 16 and following a short break returned to dancing and turned professional at 28. She now runs a busy dance school at the Polish Social Centre, Back East Street in Bury teaching dancers of all ages.
Ian qualified in 1996 and works full time, helping Valerie with the childrens and sequence classes each week.
The have a Sequence class each Wednesday afternoon, 1 pm - 3.30 pm where they teach a selection of the latest dances.

 Ellen Harrison and Kelly Sloan - Ellen and Kelly started dancing as children at the T&D Morgan School of Dancing, who specialise in sequence, taking medals and enetering medallist competitions.
Ellen qualified with the NCDTA some years ago, with Kelly following more recently. After attending the NCDTA inventive for many years, they took up the challenge and entered their first competition in January 2007. They then won their first competition later that year with the Crossway Cha Cha Cha at the UKA event.
Although sequence dancing is a major part of their lives, both of them have full time jobs in other fields.
They are still with Trevor and Dulcie Morgan running the childrens classes in Darlington and Kelloe, Co. Durham. They also take part in the dance holidays, sequence dances and other events organised by the school, and are always on hand to run classes when Trevor and Dulcie are away.

 George and Janet McDonald- George and Janet have been qualified dance teachers with the B.A.T.D. for 12 years and have competed in Inventive Dance Competitions for 10 years. A previous winning dance was the Harmony Foxtrot as well as the recent Lilac Lady Tango. Both of these dances were named after minature porcelain shoes that Janet collects, each shoe having a distinctive name.

 RAY Fenton-Storey and LISSIA Giles - Ray has danced nearly all his life and began at the age of 5 with what was then known as Old Time, and first competed aged 8. He started teaching at age 16 and qualified at 17, as an Associate with the IDTA in 1970 and with the ISTD in 1975. Ray was trained mainly by John Knight and Peggy Spencer, with further training when teaching for Josephine Bradley and later Bill Phillips. He has since qualified at Licentiate level in Latin, Classical/Old Time, Freestyle, Rock& Roll, Line Dance and Viennese Waltz and is now a Fellow in Modern Ballroom, with both the IDTA and UKA. Ray is a licensed championship adjudicator.
In 1996 Ray trained two teams for the All England Under-16 Disco Formation competitions where they achieved 1st and 4th places. He first started entering Sequence Inventive competitions dancing with his wife, Bridget, and they had several winning dances including the ever popular Let’s Jive and then Peppercorn Jive. Having worked together for 20 years, in time Bridget needed 2 hip replacements so Ray now dances with Lissia as his regular competitions partner . However, Bridget did return to dancing and together they continue to hold regular Sunday morning sessions teaching all the new sequence dances. They also run 3 clubs, organise and host many dance holidays, and Ray frequently gives lectures. He also gives private lessons in Ballroom, Latin and Sequence at all levels from beginners through medallists, to coaching competition dancers and training candidates for professional qualifications.
Lissia started dancing at the age of 3 with Ken Bateman, in Slough. Having gained all her medals in Ballroom and Latin she first qualified with the IDTA in 1999, aged 17, as an Associate in Ballroom. Lissia later met Ray through one of the sequence clubs and then trained with him to gain her Assoclate in Classical/Old Time. She is now continuing with training for her Licentiate in Ballroom. In 2003 Ray invited Lissia to partner him in Sequence Inventive competitions, initially dancing his own arrangements. She then progressed to entering her own dances achieving her first win in 2005, with the Seaside Salsa. Lissia independently runs her own classes in Sequence, Ballroom and Latin and is involved with a local group of adult handicapped people.
