Michael and Julie Pharaoh
Michael and Julie Pharaoh share their time between their busy dance school in Llanelli and their home in Mitcham South London.
Dance Kingdom caters for all age groups with classes for beginners up to competition grade, specialising in Ballroom, Latin and Sequence.
They hold two examination sessions through the UKA a year, and a number of their pupils dance in the Premier Medallist of the year in Blackpool, Sequence being normally our best events.
For a number of years they took part regularly in Inventive Dance competitions travelling all over the country, winning several events in the Eighties and Nineties, but had to curtail their participation due to running their school and taking up judging and examining duties.
Their best result was winning the Saga Waltz in 1988, the prize, a week cruising the Rhine. With teaching restricted to Zoom classes during Lockdown, their thoughts turned to routines, and when the BDC announced their Inventive Dance competition would be held via a video link, the thinking cap went on to produce three dances for the competition.
Michael and Julie were thrilled to bits on winning with the Paso Mijas, (12 years since Paso Las Paz).
Michael sadly passed away in 2024, but Julie continues to run their busy dance schools.
