UKA Inventive Dance Winners

The UKA Inventive Dance Competition, held on Sunday 1st June, brought together a wealth of talent from the worlds of ballroom, Latin, and classical to present original sequence routines that impressed both the audience and the expert panel of adjudicators.

Winners from the day included:

  • Michael’s Waltz arranged by Phillip and Gaynor Evans, an advanced graceful Modern ballroom routine danced to the moving music track Somewhere in Time.
  • The Chico Mambo arranged by Eugene Barber and Lorraine Heron, which took top spot in the Latin section.
  • A crowd-pleasing win for Ellen Harrison and Kelly Sloan with their upbeat Classical Sequence routine, Sockburn Swing.

Competitors today also included, Dianne White and Helen Tinkler, Gail Brocklesby and Peter Davies, John and Ann Rainey, Steve Coughlan and Jane Coughlan, Kerri Morse and Susan Sims, Paul and Caroline Dellar, Gareth and Andrea Jarvis, Shannah Birchenough and Phil Hughes, Keith Morris and Elaine Richardson, Gordon Smith and Freja Smith. 
 

The competition was judged by Steven Shaw, Julie Pharaoh, Stuart Hatton, Tony Dyer, and Jayne Burnett. The event was expertly organised by compère, David Smith and newly appointed UKA President, Andrew Pigg.

A special mention goes to MCs Stuart Perry and Beverley Howard, who arranged a lively programme of social sequence dancing that added to the warm, welcoming atmosphere, with music provided by Liam Pywell.
